This unique event will begin with a playback of For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder?, and the single We Are All Prostitutes. After the playback, discussion of the album will be led by Kodwo Eshun (author of More Brilliant Than The Sun: Adventures in Sonic Fiction) and Mark Fisher (author of Capitalist Realism and Ghosts Of My Life), who will be joined by Mark Stewart and Gareth Sager of The Pop Group. Was For How Much Longer ever properly heard in 1980, and what can it tell us about our current moment? 'For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder?' The Pop Group reissue their long out of print second studio album For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? This is the first time that the album has been reissued and available on CD. Originally released in March 1980 on their own Y label through Rough Trade, For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? spent 20 weeks in the Indie charts, peaking at #1. The vinyl edition comes with eight original artwork prints on four double-sided posters, the CD format will include smaller versions of all the posters. Their vital post-punk anthem, We Are All Prostitutes originally released in 1979 to a climate of political unrest, is being released on the same day as a limited edition colour 7" and is also part of the revised tracklisting on For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? On hearing the album for the first time Nick Cave commented, "It's one of those moments when the cogs of your mind shift and your life is going to irreversibly change forever." It was "everything that I thought rock & roll should have … it was violent, paranoid music for a violent, paranoid time."
