Turner Prize 2010

For Turner Prize, The Otolith Group presented different aspects of its practice which comprises films, photoworks, curatorial projects, writings and discussions. Inner Time of Television is a collaborative project with French film-maker Chris Marker. This work reconfigures The Owl's Legacy, Marker's 1989 thirteen-part television series about Ancient Greek heritage, as an installation with accompanying artist's book. Otolith III (2009) gives life to four characters from Satyajit Ray's extraordinary screenplay for the unrealised film The Alien (1967), about a young boy from a remote Bengali village who befriends a visiting alien. Transposed here to a contemporary setting, these protagonists confront the fate to which film history has consigned them. During the exhibition, The Otolith Group hosted four events which invited speakers to engage in close readings of rarely seen film works
