In 2005, The Otolith Group was invited by curator Christine Tohme to present Otolith I during 'Homeworks III: A Forum on Cultural Practices' taking place in Beirut from November 17-24, 2005. This invitation marked the start of an ongoing association between The Otolith Group, Ashkal Alwan, the Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts and a number of contemporary Beirut based artists.
Aren't we subject to history's gaps? Don't we too participate in producing them, in piercing them in our timelines? How we enjoy history's hysteria; how fond of it we are. Christine Tohme, 'The Notion of the Fishing Document' in Homeworks III: A Forum on Cultural Practices, edited by Chaza Charafeddine, Masha Refka and Christine Tohme, Ashkal Alwan, 2005, p. 13.
