The Otolith Group's current project, Inner Time of Television takes up another historical event never fully realised: French filmmaker Chris Marker's little known television series The Owl's Legacy, 1989. Its original thirteen episodes prsented interviews with diverse intellectuals – such as Michel Serres, Iannis Xenakis, Cornelius Castoriadis, and George Steiner, each reflecting on Greece's cultural heritage. Yet the series' original producer, the Onassis Foundation, allegedly found the results insulting to Greek identity; the series consequently received minimal distribution. Countering a seeming censorial suppression, The Otolith Group here resurrects The Owl's Legacy, reframing it as their contribution to the 1st Athens Biennial, where it will be screened for an international public in Greece for the first time.
